About

Instructor extracts structured outputs from LLMs using Pydantic models for schema definition and validation. It wraps the OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Mistral, Cohere, and Ollama SDKs (and any OpenAI-compatible endpoint), automatically retries on validation errors with the error message in context, and supports streaming, partial responses, and custom field validators. Released under the MIT license; widely used as a small alternative to full agent frameworks.
