Qwen Chat is Alibaba Cloud's hosted assistant built on the Qwen model family, the closed-service counterpart to the open-weight models the directory lists separately. The web app fronts the current Qwen generation with conversation, long-document upload and summarization, image understanding, image generation, and a code-oriented mode that previews generated pages, and it exposes model switching so a session can move between fast and reasoning-heavy variants. It is free to use with an account, with usage limits that shift as Alibaba iterates. The service itself is proprietary even though many of the underlying models publish open weights, so treat it like any hosted assistant rather than something you can self-host; teams that need local control typically run the open Qwen weights behind their own inference server instead. For developers it is mainly useful as the fastest way to evaluate what the newest Qwen release can do before committing to downloading and serving the weights.
