Enterprises drowning in scattered MCP configurations get a single control point from ContextForge, IBM's Apache-2.0 gateway and registry. It federates multiple MCP servers, A2A agents, and existing REST or gRPC services behind one endpoint, translating conventional APIs into MCP tool definitions with gRPC reflection support and composing several servers into one virtual server. Unified registries version prompts, resources, and tools; built-in auth, retries, rate limiting, and user-scoped OAuth tokens handle governance; and OpenTelemetry export feeds Phoenix, Jaeger, or Zipkin for observability, alongside an admin UI with a real-time log viewer. A plugin framework with more than 40 plugins covers extension needs. The Python 3.11+ service installs from PyPI as mcp-contextforge-gateway or runs from the ghcr.io container image, with Docker Compose and Helm charts standing up full stacks backed by PostgreSQL and Redis; cryptographic secrets must be configured before first start. At around 4,400 stars it ranks among the most active MCP infrastructure projects on GitHub.
