FLUX.1 Kontext dev
Open-weight 12B rectified flow model for instruction-based image editing from Black Forest Labs.
About
Instruction-driven image editing is the whole job of FLUX.1 Kontext dev: given an image and a plain-text command, the 12 billion parameter rectified flow transformer changes outfits, swaps backgrounds, restyles scenes, or edits text while preserving characters and composition across multiple successive rounds with minimal drift. Black Forest Labs released it in June 2025 as the open-weight distilled member of its commercial Kontext family, and it quickly became the reference open editing model, with support in ComfyUI and Diffusers plus hosted endpoints at fal, Replicate, Together, and others. Weights download from Hugging Face and default to bfloat16 on CUDA; community quantizations bring memory needs down to consumer cards. Inference code in the black-forest-labs/flux repository is Apache-2.0, but the weights carry the FLUX.1 dev Non-Commercial License: generated outputs may be used commercially, while commercial deployment of the model itself requires a paid license from BFL, and the license obliges deployers to apply content filtering or manual review.
